The mission of Happy Home Counseling Services is to assist older teens and adults with mental, behavioral, and emotional difficulty towards greater self-sufficiency and stability, while ultimately reducing the likelihood of disruption to their lives and to their way of living.

About Us

Happy Home Counseling Services provides structured support and assistance to older teens (18) and adults with mental health conditions who demonstrate a need for greater stability and independence in life. Mental health skill-building services will be implemented primarily within the individual's home, and will include supplemental exposure to other community-based resources as needed. The mental health skill-building services program is designed to offer structured case management support in areas such as: guidance with money management, job skills, medication supervision, personal space management, safety awareness, decision-making skills, social skills, organizational skills, personal care skills, and other relevant skills, which will help to support the individual's continued stability and independence.

The goal of Happy Home Counseling Services is to reduce the likelihood of homelessness, hospitalization, or incarceration due to mental, emotional, or behavioral difficulty while encouraging the ability to thrive and advance in life.

Individuals are required to meet service criteria before admission. A comprehensive mental health assessment will be conducted prior to the rendering of any services.

The philosophy of Happy Home Counseling Services is to partner with individuals within the community in order to provide case management, support, and guidance in daily living skills in an effort to establish greater stabilization and self-sufficiency for them within their homes and community. Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of homelessness, hospitalization, or incarceration due to mental, emotional, or behavioral difficulty while encouraging their ability to thrive and advance.

Program Description

The Happy Home Counseling Services program is a mental health skill-building program based in Petersburg, Virginia. It is designed to support the stabilization needs of adults with mental, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Our mental health skill-building services will provide structured support and case management assistance to older teens and adults with mental health conditions who demonstrate a need for greater stability and personal management.

Services will be provided following a mental health assessment, and will be in accordance with the goals and objectives identified in the individual's individualized service plan. Mental health skill-building services will be implemented in coordination with recommendations from the individual's referring Case Manager, Psychiatrist, Primary Care Physician, or any other persons and/or agencies involved in the individual's care. Mental health skill-building services will be implemented primarily within the individual's home, and will include supplemental exposure to other community-based resource agencies as needed.

Each mental health skill-building Counselor will be guided in their interventions by the individual's individualized service plan and through clinical support from the program's clinical personnel. The mental health skill-building services program is designed to offer structured case management support such as guidance with areas such as: budgeting and money management, job skills, medication supervision, personal space management, safety awareness, decision-making skills, social skills, organizational skills, personal care skills and other relevant skills, which will support their continued stability and independence.

All services will be provided in coordination with the individual's approval and input into the development of their individualized service plan, as well as with the participation of the individual's family and/or next of kin.
